I gave this some thought and figured people might submit photos of flags, The Statue of Liberty, or Mt. Rushmore, so I decided to post photos of buffalo. What spells freedom more than the buffalo roaming the land of our forefathers?
Oh give me a home
Where the buffalo roam
And the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard
A discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day!
These were taken in Yellowstone National Park.

great shots pat...buffalo are such majestic creatures...that second shot is just amazing...
These photos are awesome!! Thank you!
When buffalo males turn 2-3 they decide whether to stay with the herd or roam solo . I have enjoyed watching them , many think them very laid back. I have seen one jump a 8 ft creek from standing still. We were doing a plant study on the other side and wondered to stay or run. Watched him while still examining the plants.
love the song!
When we visited Yellowstone last fall, we were greeted by 3 buffalo who were walking down the road. They were totally unimpressed by the cars, and we had to weave between them to enter the park. I was amazed by their sheer size!
Ah! Snowy buffs! Gorgeous images. I can feel the magnificence of total freedom!
perfect shots...so beautiful ;)
On one of my trips across contry I remember stopping at a rest stop near yellow stone and watching the buffalo wander freely through the cars. One stuck his huge shappy head into car window...I was so busy staring I had forgotten to roll it up...it was a wonderful moment to be so close to that magnificent creature. Great photos!
Oh very beautiful photos! The snow caped mountains in the background are gorgeous. The buffalo are very interesting creatures.. :)
God Bless!

I LOVE these beautiful animals! We used to have a buffalo farm nearby that I enjoyed visiting whenever possible. I especially love the shot you have of them walking in the snow. Perfect! ~Jeanne
Love your take on the theme! I think I would love to have the freedom to roam.............
Where purple mountain majesty! That would be right behind the buffalo! Love the buffalo roaming single file along a paved road. Bet the Native Americans never thought they would see that! Great photos!
Gorgeous! I love that one of the buffalos in the snow. Great composition - bravo!
Such magnificent animals!
Such a perfect representation of freedom! Beautiful, beautiful pictures!
Perfect song & sentiment for freedom! Those buff's on the bottom look c-c-cold!
:)
Gorgeous pictures and an excellent choice for the challenge.
Wonderful! I really love that last shot in the snow!
The photo of the buffalo on the big open plain is a perfect example of freedom to me. Great photos Pat.
Hope you had a wonderful 4TH!
beautiful pictures!
This is a brilliant take on the prompt, freedom. I love your pictures. The second one is a revelation. Something I would never ever have imagined. And you, in your gypsy life, get to experience.
We were up in Maine this weekend looking for moose. Well, I mean we weren't up there LOOKING for mooses, we were up there just hanging out but we hoped to see some mooses. but we saw no mooses. Shame right? Damn it.
A unique perspective of the theme Pat.
I LOVE these - especially the second of them in the snow. I've seen buffalo on other blogs but never in snow and these are wonderful shots.
Hope you had a wonderful holiday!
Fabulous images, especially seeing them trekking along in the snow! We saw bison yesterday down at Land Between the Lakes. It was pretty neat but not nearly as fabulous as your photos! =)
Great choice for freedom. Love the pics of the buffalo, they are so majestic. :)
Wow Pat, those are some gorgeous photos!!
