Sunday Bridges - Red Covered Bridge

Those "dots" you see in the sky are not birds, but leaves that have fallen off the trees and caught up in the wind.

This beautiful wooden bridge was originally built in 1863 and spans 149 feet over the Big Bureau Creek in Princeton, IL. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

This is a close up of the sign that hangs above the entrance of both sides of the bridge. (click to enlarge)

I love old covered bridges and also the signs that remind us of life in times past.

What a wonderful bridge. The red looks so nice against the blue sky.
Love your header, it's like the 'March of the Pumpkins' :)

The covered bridge reminds me of The Bridges of Madison County. I read the sign and got a chuckle about the amount of animals allowed to be led across the bridge at one time.

Fascinating, especially the sign. We don't have any covered bridges (that I know of) in Australia.

I love, love, love it. We had one near the town in upstate NY where I grew up. However, a flood took it out with one of the bad storms.

this is a neat looking bridge. there is a covered bridge not far from me that I have never seen and I must drive out to it.

I was here earlier today and got sidetracked by your cemetery stories - fascinating!
