Signs - Painted Lady

I pass this beautiful "painted lady" frequently and noticed the sign out front. I stopped one day to take a picture of it. Red Like Polish is a beauty spa. Brush and Floss, obviously, a dentist's office. I removed the dentist's name from the sign.

You can see more of the beautiful house in this one.

Signs - McDonald's

I spotted this McDonald's in the Chicago Theater District. It sure looked fancier than a regular McDonald's sign! I didn't have a chance to look inside of the restaurant to see if it WAS fancier; I had to get right on the tour bus after seeing the musical "Once".

Signs - Standing on the Corner

In keeping with The Eagles theme, here's a photo I took at the corner in Winslow, Arizona. The town cashed in on the line "Standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona" in the Eagles song, "Take It Easy". The main part of town is basically one street with two gift shops. This display is on the corner, with the song "Take it Easy" blaring from speakers from the gift shop.

Signs - Tell Me My Fortune!

Are you game?

I actually went to this psychic about 10 years ago. Back then she charged $5 to answer 3 questions. Looking back, she was pretty damn accurate!

Signs - Culturally Speaking

I was so surprised to see this sign on the side of the road - Mona Lisa smiling back at me with the words, "Smile. Pass it on." I did indeed smile and hope you did, too!

Signs - A Blast from the Past

I love this 50's-looking sign of this local restaurant in central Illinois. It would be cool to get a shot of it with the lights on, but I don't think they are open for dinner any more.

If you read my post yesterday, you will know that we went to the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa. Here is the sign at the entrance.

Signs - Hunting for a Photo

For months on end I have seen this sign on the side of the road as I drove to my daughter's home. I NEVER have my camera ready, or there is a truck or car blocking the area when I want to shoot the picture. Finally I was able to get a shot off while my husband was driving. Sorry for it not being crisp, but I was happy to finally get a photo of this sign.

I think the sign is very cool looking. I had no idea what "The Bone Shed" was all about. The smaller letters under the name of the store read, "Indoor Archery Range and Retail Store". This store is all about hunting. I guess the "bones" are of the animals that are hunted. Sorry, I'm not a hunter. Still like the sign, though!

Signs - Artsy Town

The tiny town of Saugatuck, Michigan, population of around 1,000,  is located on the east coast of Lake Michigan. During the summer,  the population swells to up to 3,000. Saugatuck is considered the "Art Coast of Michigan", possibly because it has 19 art galleries.

Signs - Mighty Mississippi

A sign at the beginning of the Mississippi River, in Itasca State Park, Minnesota. Here is a picture (from the internet) that gives you a better idea - you can either walk across the stepping stones or wade through the water. It's only about a foot deep here.

Signs - Too Much of a Good Thing....

This is one of the many signs hanging from the ceiling at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona which I visited last week.

To which I say, "Amen, Sista!"

Signs - Supporting our Troops!

I saw this sign on the side of a semi-truck that was unloading at a store while we were stopped at a red light.

I hope they're not supporting them while in combat! ;)

I like how the cab of the truck is painted camouflage.

Signs - Fresh Pies!

This cool sign hung outside "The Pie Shop" in a small town in Minnesota. The little shop served delicious pies and was located right along the bike path.

Signs - Winslow, AZ

Taken in Winslow, Arizona a few years ago as we were passing through.

This should bring back memories for a lot of you! Are you singing the song "Take it Easy" by The Eagles? No? Well, here, watch the video and that will get you singing!

Signs - Elvis has Left the Building

sign outside of Graceland in Memphis, TN
The gate outside of Graceland
There is a brick wall, as you can see in the above photo, by the gate, and along the front of the property. It is filled with graffiti from undying fans of Elvis.

I zoomed in on one of the writings.

Elvis may have left the building, but not the hearts of millions of fans.
