"B" is for Bisbee, Arizona
Bisbee is located about 24 miles south of Tombstone, Arizona. It was founded in 1880 as a copper, gold and silver mining town, and named in honor of Judge DeWitt Bisbee, one of the financial backers of the Copper Queen Mine. (Wikipedia) The mine does not operate any more, except for tours. Which is quite interesting, by the way.
Here is a large statue dedicated to the men of the copper mines.
And the plaque underneath that reads:
Things you need to know about Bisbee. It is a town built on a hill.
Which means there are a LOT of stairs,
and now the town is known more for its art culture. There is art right on the street:
and in back yards.
There are many shops to wander through and browse,
This town is so artsy, even the public restroom door is a piece of art!
The Cochise County Court house has quite the architectural design. On top of the Art Deco doors are two miners carved into the stone.
