Crazy for Quilts - Part Four

In honor of the Northern Illinois Quilt Fest that is going on during the months of July, August and September, the local town here is auctioning off the 8' x 8' wooden barn quilts that are displayed in their shop windows. You can see photos of them here and here.

Also on display inside the pharmacy are hand made cloth quilts from as early as 1880 up until 1987. I will show you two photos of each quilt: one of the complete quilt and the next a closeup so that you can better see the pattern and possibly the stitching. Click to enlarge any photo.

  2. Quilts and beautiful flowers, two of my favorite things. All of the quilts are so pretty but I've always like crazy quilts. Maybe it's the haphazard look that draws me in.

  4. I have seen Mom work on all these patterns through the years. The postage stamp was the one you made to use those tiny scraps...never waste a piece!

  5. Wow! What a beautiful selection of quilts. I don't make them myself, but I can admire the handiwork that goes into them. Especially the ones from the "olden days". Thanks for sharing these treasures!

  12. Quilt garden - - - it's the first I have heard of one or seen one! I have thoroughly enjoyed your quilt posts. You had great pics of beautiful pieces of fabric art as well as barn art. Plus we got a bit of history tossed in for a bonus.
