This is the first time I'm joining in on this meme for "Sunday Bridges" sponsored by Louis La Vache at San Franciso Bay Daily Photo.
We came across this bridge while touring Custer State Park in South Dakota. This is called a pigtail bridge due to the way it is constructed.
Click on the photo to enlarge it so that you may be able to better read the sign about the bridge.

The bridge is beautiful and so compliments the environment. I have never seen or heard of a pig tail bridge until today.
ReplyDeleteinteresting design...very cool to look at....
ReplyDeleteI love bridges...
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool bridge design. I really like that by using this construction they made less of an impact on the natural setting.
ReplyDeleteThats awesome.
ReplyDeleteNow that is quite the bridge and an amazing feat! Glad you were able to get photos of it.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting Pat. You can see why they named them pigtail bridges. So much to discover out there!
ReplyDeleteDo cars drive on this? I love the construction. But I'd worry about putting so much weight on a wooden bridge!
ReplyDeletethose are amazing! i bet the view from the bridge is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteWell, for your first Sunday Bridge, you certainly found a unique one!
ReplyDeletehee hee... Perhaps «Louis» should re-name the meme to "animal bridges" - here you've got pigtail bridge and Egads-EG posted camelback bridge.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, it's a welcome contribution to Sunday Bridges!
Really like the rustic look. Quite unusual.
ReplyDeleteOh, I so dig it. I love that bridge.
ReplyDeleteI also like bridges, and this one is really great.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat!
ReplyDeleteI totally want to go to South Dakota now....my grandma was from S.D., I probably have relatives there.
