Pontooning on Canyon Lake

I am sorry that I have not been posting as regularly as I'd like. Things here in the park have gotten extremely busy.....people are getting ready to leave, so that means a LOT of going away parties! It seems like we have a party a day, sometimes two! I keep telling Jim that we have to leave here to rest up! I have many photos to post of all the different activities, but not much time to blog.

Here are photos from when over 50 of us from the park went on 6 pontoon boats on Canyon Lake in Arizona.

Jim is either begging to be let onto the boat, or he's waiting to untie the boat and hop on!

Our boat is ready to go! Jim is standing to the left in the gray sweatshirt. I am sitting in the bottom left-hand corner with the black coat on.

It was a chilly morning......about 40 degrees when we got to the lake. We all wore an extra layer of clothing....all except Margaret. She dressed like it was winter outside!

This is the first thing we saw as we pulled out from the docks. What beautiful scenery!

As soon as we were out on the lake, the breeze picked up and it got even colder. That's when Margaret got out her "Snuggie". Did I mention "overkill"?

Last year when we went out on the lake it had been in the 80's. People had brought water guns. It was a welcome relief from the heat. This year was a different story. Nobody wanted to get squirted because it was just TOO cold out! Look at this boat as we passed them - their hoods are up, not only for the cold, but also to protect them from any water guns! Judy is wearing the bucket on her head.

Here's a better one of Judy. I don't know if she was doing the scene from "Titanic" here or what! (I'm the King of the World!)

Being able to go the bathroom was a big issue for all of us women. There were bathrooms by the docks.

There was a pit stop 2 1/2 miles down the lake.

That's it.

We would be on the water for about 4 - 4 1/2 hours.

Drinking.

At least if it was hot out we could either dive into the water and "go", or hang off the ladder and "go".

But it was too cold to do either and no one wore their bathing suits.

Do you see our dilemma?

One of my friends, Thelma, thought she had the solution. She had purchased one of these:

What is it? Why it's a portable toilet for women! So, how many women would it take to help a woman use this device? I suggested FOUR!

2 - to stand and hold towels around the "urinator"
1 - to hold the woman's bathing suit aside (by the crotch)
1 - to hold the funnel in place (I suppose the "pee-er" could do this!)

Anyway, it turned out that Thelma ended up cancelling out on the boat trip soooo, no portable toilet! (I don't think we would have used it anyway!)

Two other friends, Don and Rachel, presented my friend Pat with her own personal female toilet. They cut the handle and neck off of a milk jug and tied a ribbon to it. Here is Pat demonstrating how to use it!

One of the pontoons was filled with pirates and "babes". They came right up to our ship and demanded our "booze" and our "women"!

The captain is wearing a Parrot hat!

The scenery was just breathtaking!

Barely a cloud in the sky!

But just enough to reflect in the water...

Good friends! l-r: Judy, Bob, Kathy, Mike, Doug, Lenore,  Ellen, David.

Once everyone rode up and down the lake, we all met in the middle and tied all the pontoons together.

Let the partying begin! Or should I say, "Continue"!! Whip out the guitars and the singing begins!

New York has "The Naked Cowboy". We here in Arizona have "The Sexy Singing Senior"! Or how about "The Bare-chested Baritone"!

Who knew that you could do line dancing on a pontoon boat?

Happy Times!

Fun in the Sun on Canyon Lake, Part One

A couple of weeks ago, 30 crazy people rented 3 pontoon boats and spent 5 hours on the beautiful, scenic Canyon Lake in Arizona.

It was the brainstorm of a guy named Jim. Here he is giving marching orders to the gang before leaving our park. He's the one in the blue shirt.

We left the park by 7:15 am, got to the marina by 8:15 am, and were on the boats by 8:30 am. It was a gorgeous morning. The sun was just coming over the mountains.

This wasn't a "Three Hour Tour" like "Gilligan's Island", but a "Five Hour Tour". Nonetheless, Lenore wanted to play the part of "Ginger" because she had a fancy hat.

Ginger

Lenore, a.k.a. "Ginger"
We all clamored into the boat. Henry was to be our Captain. The boys, particularly Doug, seemed fascinated that there was a table on the boat.

The first boat led the way as we head out on the lake.

The scenery was stunning. The lighting was PERFECT so early in the morning for pictures. Judge for yourself.

The first stop was 2 miles down, called Beer Can Point. It had primitive bathrooms (no running water). Obviously there were no bathrooms on board the boats, so we DEFINITELY wanted to stop there! Here we are docked at the pier. Henry entertained us with his singing and guitar playing, and the girls did an impromptu dance!

Ellen (l), Pat (not me), Lenore, Diane
Lou was on one of the other boats. He brought two water guns.

Diane learned what it was like to feel a big gun.

It's a showdown!

Meanwhile, Diane's husband, Henry, paid no attention to her nonsense, and serenaded "da boys". Just look at their contented faces, especially David's, the guy in the center!

A man on one of the boats realized that he forgot his bag with his camera and wallet back on the dock two miles back! They couldn't contact the marina because of no cell service in the canyon. So they had no choice but to circle back and hope that the items were still there.

We didn't care. We waited at Bear Can Point and partied. We were lucky not only to have one musician on board, but TWO. Here is Doug, strumming a tune or two.

We armed the two waiting boats with the water guns and ambushed the other boat when it returned from its "rescue-the-wallet-mission". Pretty soon we were acting like a bunch of teenagers and racing up the lake, shooting the water gun at each other!

Our boat and the other boat that was armed took turns shooting at each other and the defenseless boat. Finally, the defenseless boat used the only ammunition they had: ugliness. That's right. A guy bent over and MOONED us! I'll only show the beginning of the moon so I don't offend anyone!

Ugh! An image I have to poke out of my mind's eye!

Henry raced off, leaving the other two boats eating our "dust".

It seems that the next turn on the lake brought more gorgeous scenery, if that was at all possible.

To be continued.....
