"G" is for Grand Canyon

My husband, Jim, and I traveled this great country of ours for SEVEN years in our RV. We saw many wonderful sights, visited famous and not so famous cities, and wandered through many a National Park. I have blogged through all our travels. I've stumbled upon the "Blogging from A to Z Challenge 2013". I decided to jump on board this crazy train and share with all of you places I have seen in my travels.

Day 7 "Blogging from A-Z Challenge"!

is for Grand Canyon

As in THE Grand Canyon, in Arizona.

Yeah, baby.

The first time we visited this magnificent place, our kids were 12 and 14 years of age. We parked in a cove of trees which blocked the beautiful sight. Our 14 year old was entering those wonderful teen years - sullen, stubborn, nothing-made-him-happy. You know what I'm talking about?

Three of us piled out of the car; my son? No. He sat with his arms crossed and said, "I'm not going. I'm staying here."

Seriously? We drove over 1500 miles to see the GRAND CANYON, and he's going to stay in the car?

Over my dead body.

We yelled, we screamed, we threatened, and he got out of the car.

He tried to stay mad. And sullen. But when he saw views like this, who wouldn't just burst out in song?

Oookay, maybe I exaggerate a teeny bit, but he WAS in a better mood for the rest of the day. Or at least while we were at the canyon!

Oooh!

Aaah!

See that wiggly line in the photo?

That is a PATH from the rim of the canyon down to the base and beyond. Crazy people actually walk this. Even crazier people ride mules down. I'm told that the people can't even get off the mules to pee.

THAT'S CRAZY TALK RIGHT THERE!!!!

I would definitely be wearing "depends"!!

I was lucky enough to catch these mules making their way up the path of the canyon.

They were Rangers bringing up supplies. Really? They couldn't, like, just drive to the store like regular people?

Then I saw how pretty this Ranger was and I was really pissed. She just rode from God knows where on the back of an ass and she looks like that?

Yes, I admit, I am jealous. Okay?

Here is a glimpse from above of some thrill seekers rafting down the Colorado River.

The Grand Canyon is a beautiful, gorgeous place and the scenery always changes depending on the time of day. Sunrise/sunsets are spectacular. I will never get tired of visiting here.
