Here are photos from when over 50 of us from the park went on 6 pontoon boats on Canyon Lake in Arizona.
Jim is either begging to be let onto the boat, or he's waiting to untie the boat and hop on!
Our boat is ready to go! Jim is standing to the left in the gray sweatshirt. I am sitting in the bottom left-hand corner with the black coat on.
It was a chilly morning......about 40 degrees when we got to the lake. We all wore an extra layer of clothing....all except Margaret. She dressed like it was winter outside!
This is the first thing we saw as we pulled out from the docks. What beautiful scenery!
As soon as we were out on the lake, the breeze picked up and it got even colder. That's when Margaret got out her "Snuggie". Did I mention "overkill"?
Last year when we went out on the lake it had been in the 80's. People had brought water guns. It was a welcome relief from the heat. This year was a different story. Nobody wanted to get squirted because it was just TOO cold out! Look at this boat as we passed them - their hoods are up, not only for the cold, but also to protect them from any water guns! Judy is wearing the bucket on her head.
Here's a better one of Judy. I don't know if she was doing the scene from "Titanic" here or what! (I'm the King of the World!)
Being able to go the bathroom was a big issue for all of us women. There were bathrooms by the docks.
There was a pit stop 2 1/2 miles down the lake.
That's it.
We would be on the water for about 4 - 4 1/2 hours.
Drinking.
At least if it was hot out we could either dive into the water and "go", or hang off the ladder and "go".
But it was too cold to do either and no one wore their bathing suits.
Do you see our dilemma?
One of my friends, Thelma, thought she had the solution. She had purchased one of these:
What is it? Why it's a portable toilet for women! So, how many women would it take to help a woman use this device? I suggested FOUR!
2 - to stand and hold towels around the "urinator"
1 - to hold the woman's bathing suit aside (by the crotch)
1 - to hold the funnel in place (I suppose the "pee-er" could do this!)
Anyway, it turned out that Thelma ended up cancelling out on the boat trip soooo, no portable toilet! (I don't think we would have used it anyway!)
Two other friends, Don and Rachel, presented my friend Pat with her own personal female toilet. They cut the handle and neck off of a milk jug and tied a ribbon to it. Here is Pat demonstrating how to use it!
One of the pontoons was filled with pirates and "babes". They came right up to our ship and demanded our "booze" and our "women"!
The captain is wearing a Parrot hat!
The scenery was just breathtaking!
Barely a cloud in the sky!
But just enough to reflect in the water...
Good friends! l-r: Judy, Bob, Kathy, Mike, Doug, Lenore, Ellen, David. |
Once everyone rode up and down the lake, we all met in the middle and tied all the pontoons together.
Let the partying begin! Or should I say, "Continue"!! Whip out the guitars and the singing begins!
New York has "The Naked Cowboy". We here in Arizona have "The Sexy Singing Senior"! Or how about "The Bare-chested Baritone"!
Who knew that you could do line dancing on a pontoon boat?
Happy Times!
You folks really know how to enjoy yourselves. That looks like some party. The pirate video is a hoot!
ReplyDeleteThe scenery is gorgeous. I love your shot of the cloud reflecting in the water.

ReplyDeleteYou folk have fun wherever you go. It's wonderful. Loved the pictures.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned the naked cowboy in NY, do you know I missed him by walking into a shop. Hubs saw him and didn't draw my attention... how unfriendly is THAT...lol.
Looks like you guys had lots of fun even if it was a little chilly. The bathroom situation would have been a nightmare for me . . . . if I know there's nowhere to go it's as though my bladder wants to go every 5 minutes!
ReplyDeleteI love going out on Canyon Lake. Looks like ya'll had lots of fun. We've been out there on the Dolly Steamboat in August...talk about HOT and HUMID! Did you see any Bighorn Sheep up on the sides of the mountains?
ReplyDeletethis post was so much fun! and the scenery is gorgeous. I'm so envious of your life!
ReplyDeleteLady, you know how to live! I laughed so hard I didn't notice the scenery. But it's awfully pretty. Did you notice? I mean, before you looked at your pictures?

ReplyDeleteI see you are not having problems uploading pictures...I sure am! Tried for two hours to post pics from our patio project with no luck. Kept telling me the upload failed. Any suggestions?
OMG, you folks are too funny!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun but a little chilly!
