Sunday Bridges - John Coffee Memorial Bridge

This is the John Coffee Memorial Bridge which spans the Tennessee River on the Natchez Trace Parkway.  The bridge is named for General John Coffee, who fought in the Creek War of 1813-14.

  1. No doubt General Coffee needed (ahem) a lot of caffeine for his battles.

The river looks quite wide here. «Louis» thanks you for your contribution to Sunday Bridges.

  4. It appears to have a curve which is a bit unusual for bridges - - right? I agree, too, that it looks like art.

  5. I like how this has a certain fluidity to it. The bridge, I mean. But also the river.

  7. There's always something thrilling crossing a river that is prominent in our history.

  8. That's a nice simple bridge, I like it. But is there room for larger river vessels to get through or does that happen somewhere else?

  9. It looks quite artistic. I too like bridges. When I've been on cruises it's been quite funny to see the passengers rushing to the deck to see us go under a famous bridge.
