A sign at the beginning of the Mississippi River, in Itasca State Park, Minnesota. Here is a picture (from the internet) that gives you a better idea - you can either walk across the stepping stones or wade through the water. It's only about a foot deep here.

and from that little bit look where it goes...wow...
Nice. I bet you didn't wade across it at this time of year. I used to dream of seeing the Mississippi and now I live in the Midwest and have crossed it in several places. I am awed every time.
Very cool. I remember studying about the Mississippi River in grade school. In the early nineties, we lived 11 miles from it when we were on the western side of TN.
Beautiful scenery . Cool sign ! Thanks for sharing , Have a great day !
It does grow a lot as it travels that's for sure! Cool place there.
Wow, it's beautiful.
I have heard this year the Mississippi River is very low this year and may have to limit traffic.
From small beginnings evolve big things! Mother Nature knows! Beautiful!
You should have put your kayak into the water and started the journey! Think of the photo ops! Think of the mosquitos! Think of the COLD!!
But no matter how cold you get, do NOT build a fire in your kayak. Because you can't have your kayak and heat it, too.
Cool signs.
A small sign for a gigantic river. I think I would take the water route. Neat post. genie
Great things start from one foot[step]!
very interesting sign. quite a long way to travel to find the sea.
Great sign with interesting information.
Great sign! I'd love to visit the source of the Mississippi one day!
I have never been to the headwaters of the Mississippi. Cool!
Interesting place and sign. "A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step." Doesn't take that river long to become mighty.
